Malaysia's foreign trade fell in the first half of the year
Data released by Malaysia's statistics Department on the 20th showed that in the first half of this year, Malaysia's foreign trade totaled 1,288bn ringgit (about 4.56 ringgit per US dollar), down 4.6% from the same period last year. Among them, in June this year, the country's foreign trade totaled 222.1 billion ringgit, down 16.3% from the same period last year.
Malaysia's statistics department said the decline in foreign trade in the first half of the year was mainly due to slowing global economic growth and lower demand for commodities. Exports of palm oil and related products fell by 6.7 billion ringgit in June from a year earlier, while exports of oil and gas and related products fell by more than 9 billion ringgit.
