The 12th ASEAN Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors' Meeting was held in Kuala Lumpur
This meeting was co-chaired by Malaysia's Second Finance Minister, Amir Hansa Azzan, and the Governor of the State Bank of Malaysia, Abdul Rashid Ghafur. Finance ministers and central bank governors of ASEAN countries, as well as ASEAN Secretary-General, Kao Kim Hong, attended the meeting. The representatives present had an in-depth exchange of views on the prospects of global and regional economic development. The progress of various cooperation initiatives under the ASEAN fiscal and central bank track was reviewed, and important consensus was reached on relevant financial field issues.
The meeting focused on discussing the process of financial integration, including promoting the interconnection of cross-border payments, and plans to expand the number of payment connections from 18 to 25 by 2025. At the same time, the meeting supported the reconstruction of the ASEAN Currency Swap Arrangement (ASA) and adopted the "ASEAN Capital Markets Forum Action Plan 2026-2030", aiming to build a more sustainable and resilient regional financial market framework.
