Myanmar forms a steering committee for the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative

The Presidential Palace of Myanmar issued a notice on the 7th announcing the establishment of a steering committee for the implementation of the “Belt and Road” initiative. The committee will be chaired by State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi.


     According to the list of the steering committee for the implementation of the “Belt and Road” issued by the Presidential Office of Myanmar, the committee has 27 members. Except for Aung San Suu Kyi as Chairman and First Vice President Min Rui as Vice Chairman, all other members are government ministers or provincial chiefs. Minister etc.


     The announcement stated that the establishment of this committee is to better implement the relevant affairs of the joint construction of the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor under the "Belt and Road" initiative. The responsibilities of the committee include guiding the coordination between the government of the Union of Myanmar and the provincial and state governments and related policies in the process of participating in the joint construction of the "Belt and Road".


     The announcement stated that Myanmar is willing to actively participate in the construction of the “Belt and Road”, jointly promote the construction of the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, and promote the development of China-Myanmar comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.
