In 2018, the total trade between Yunnan and Myanmar reached US$6.59 billion

The 2nd China-Myanmar Economic Corridor Forum was held in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China on the 22nd. The reporter learned from the meeting that the total trade volume between Yunnan Province and Myanmar in 2018 reached 6.59 billion U.S. dollars, accounting for 43.2% of the total bilateral trade between China and Myanmar.


  Yunnan Province is a major province bordering China and Myanmar. It has a long history of friendly exchanges with Myanmar. Of the 8 border cities in Yunnan Province, 6 are bordered by Myanmar, and 11 of the 18 highway ports are ports to Myanmar.


   At the forum, the Governor of Yunnan Province Ruan Chengfa introduced in his speech that the total trade volume between Yunnan Province and Myanmar in 2018 reached 6.59 billion U.S. dollars, accounting for 43.2% of the total bilateral trade between China and Myanmar. By the end of 2018, Yunnan Province had set up 128 investment companies in Myanmar, with an agreed investment of 10.3 billion U.S. dollars and an actual investment of 1.98 billion U.S. dollars. At the same time, the two sides have increasingly strengthened their cooperation in the construction of border economic cooperation zones, industrial and trade parks, and border tourism. Cooperation and exchanges in social undertakings such as science and technology, education, culture and health have been continuously deepened and expanded.
