Japanese media: ZTE's efforts in emerging markets will participate in the construction of 5G facilit

Japanese media reported that ZTE announced that it has signed a memorandum of cooperation with Ooredoo Myanmar, a Qatari company that develops mobile communications business in Myanmar, to build a new generation of communications standard "5G" infrastructure in Myanmar. Japanese media said that in the context of the United States excluding Chinese equipment on the grounds of security risks, ZTE’s move may be to launch a counterattack in emerging country markets.

According to a report on the Nikkei website on May 17, according to Ooredoo Myanmar, the two companies plan to deploy a 5G-experienced test environment in Myanmar, and will demonstrate to ordinary users in 2019.

It is reported that there are 4 mobile communication operators in Myanmar, and it is reported that all of them use equipment produced by Chinese manufacturers.

According to the report, in Myanmar, 4G has just started commercial use in 2017, and there is a view that the transition to 5G environment will not be perfect until the first half of the 2020s at the earliest. In addition to the need to allocate new frequency bands, the reason is that 5G mobile phones are expensive and will not become popular soon.

Ooredoo is one of the foreign-funded mobile communication companies that entered the Myanmar market in 2014, and is the country's third largest communication operator.
