Myanmar Consulate General in Chongqing opened

The Consulate General of Myanmar in Chongqing is the third consulate General established by Myanmar in the Chinese mainland after Kunming and Nanning, with functions of commerce, culture, visa and consular protection.

 

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Myanmar Ambassador to China Miao Danpei said that since the establishment of diplomatic ties 72 years ago, bilateral relations have made great progress and cooperation in various fields has yielded fruitful results. Chongqing is playing a unique and important role in China's regional development and opening to the outside world. The Consulate General of Myanmar in Chongqing will definitely promote the friendly relations, exchanges and cooperation between Myanmar and Chongqing and between Myanmar and China. It is believed that Myanmar-China "Paukphaw friendship" and friendly cooperation will continue to develop in the future. Myanmar will be committed to further promoting long-term bilateral friendly cooperation and building a Myanmar-China community with a shared future.

 

Wei Xiaodong, deputy director-general of the Department of Consular Affairs of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, said at the opening ceremony that China and Myanmar are connected by mountains and rivers and enjoy a deep Paukphaw friendship, and bilateral relations have maintained a sound momentum of development for a long time. The Consulate General of Myanmar in Chongqing will help further expand more flexible exchanges and cooperation between the two countries, improve the level of Myanmar's consular services in China and enrich the connotation of the China-Myanmar community with a shared future. China is ready to work with Myanmar to further carry forward the traditional friendship between the two countries, deepen cooperation in politics, economy and trade, maintain close communication and coordination in international and regional affairs, and push for deeper and more tangible progress in building a China-Myanmar community of shared future.
