Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong has visited Myanmar
According to the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong visited Myanmar from January 4 to 6, 2024.
During the visit, Sun Weidong called on Myanmar leader Min Aung Hlaing and held consultations with Myanmar Deputy Foreign Minister Lwin Oo, exchanging in-depth views on China-Myanmar relations and the situation in northern Myanmar and other issues of common interest.
The two sides agreed to further implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, continue to jointly build the Belt and Road Initiative and the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor with high quality, and speed up the building of a China-Myanmar community with a shared future.
The two sides will work together to maintain peace and stability along the China-Myanmar border, crack down on cross-border criminal activities such as telecom fraud, and jointly promote regional peace, tranquility, development and prosperity. China reiterates that it will continue to play a constructive role in supporting the peace process in northern Myanmar.
