International students from Myanmar embark on a journey to pursue their dreams

Dehong, May 11 (Xinhua) -- (Yang Xuemei, Yang Tengrong, Zhao Li) At Ruili Vocational High School in Dehong Dai and Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, located on the border between China and Myanmar, 88 international students from Myanmar are studying knowledge and honing their vocational skills here. With their unique perspectives, they are documenting the stories of cultural exchanges between China and Myanmar.

Ruili City is located in the southwestern border of China, bordering Myanmar. It is an important gateway for China to South Asia and Southeast Asia. For a long time, many Burmese workers and students have come here for employment and study.

Ruili Vocational High School is a pioneer in vocational education cooperation between China and Myanmar. The school has launched an "Chinese language + vocational skills" industry-education integration education model, and has set up popular majors such as clothing design and technology, e-commerce, and automotive application and maintenance that meet the industrial development needs of both countries, tailoring a "golden track" of vocational skills for young students in Myanmar.

In the e-commerce class, 21-year-old Burmese student Luo Bencan is concentrating on taking notes of key points. As one of the first beneficiaries of the China-Myanmar educational exchange program, he said in fluent Chinese, "This is where my dream set sail."

Luo Bencan's ancestors were of Burmese Chinese, which gives him a natural affinity for Chinese culture. After setting foot on Chinese soil, he learned about the real China from the vivid experiences that leaped out of books. During the Qingming Festival, led by his teacher, he came to the Nanyang Overseas Chinese Machinery Workers' Return to China Anti-Japanese War Memorial Hall to touch the history of the Anti-Japanese War. During the Water-Splashing Festival, he dressed in traditional clothing and danced with the China-Myanmar Bo Bo team, exchanging blessings with Chinese friends with water. On Youth Day, May 4th, he learned about the youth stories of his Chinese peers and witnessed their passionate sense of responsibility.

Su Xueni, who is from Yangon, Myanmar, has been passionate about painting since childhood. After learning that she could study in China, she deliberately chose a three-year fashion major, hoping to realize her design dream. Besides attending classes at school, Su Xueni also experienced a real-life classroom in the clothing industrial park next to the school. When it comes to the future, she hopes to combine the traditional Burmese brocade weaving techniques with Chinese intelligent manufacturing to create clothing that features cultural integration and high quality.

At present, Ruili Vocational High School has established a regular cooperation mechanism with educational institutions such as the Golden Light Institute in Yangon, Myanmar. From curriculum design to living support, from cultural experience to internships and employment, it has built a three-dimensional training system for international students. With the successful enrollment of 36 international students this year, the "mutual pursuit" of educational cooperation between China and Myanmar will continuously inject new impetus into the friendly exchanges between the two countries.
