Myanmar establishes Central Supervisory Committee to Combat Online Fraud and Gambling
On December 10th, the Myanmar Defense and Security Council issued an order to completely eradicate the illegal activities of online fraud and gambling within the country. A Central Supervisory Committee for Combating Online Fraud and Gambling was established to achieve this goal. The committee consists of 15 senior members, with the Minister of Interior serving as the chairperson.
The main responsibilities of the committee are to formulate relevant policies for combating online fraud and gambling; establish necessary subordinate committees and assign their duties; draft and formulate law enforcement standards and operating procedures; coordinate with foreign governments, repatriate foreigners involved in illegal online fraud and gambling activities, and carry out international cooperation to severely crack down on illegal activities related to online fraud and gambling.
