The oldest cave painting found in Indonesia can be traced back to 40,000 years ago

The latest research has discovered the oldest animal cave paintings in the world. Previously, scientists believed that the oldest cave paintings in the world were located in Europe, but the latest wall paintings discovered recently in Indonesia date back to 40,000 years ago. The theme of this cave painting should be the bison of the area at that time, and there are thousands of patterns in the shape of ancient human handprints.

This research report shows that these cave paintings are located in a remote cave in Borneo, Indonesia. The cave is not easy to enter, and there are almost no traces of human habitation except for the murals. The cave is described as a gallery of prehistoric art and was discovered many years ago, but it was not until recent archaeological studies that the age of these markers was determined. This research work was jointly completed by researchers from Griffith University, Jakarta National Archaeological Research Center and Indonesian scientists.
