The Indonesian communications satellite SATRIA-1 has been successfully launched

An Indonesian communications satellite, SATRIA-1, was successfully launched from the US state of Florida on the morning of the 19th local time in Jakarta, Indonesian media reported.

The satellite, launched on Space X's Falcon 9 rocket, is expected to enter orbit in November and become operational next year.

SATRIA-1 is operated by the Indonesian company PSN for the Indonesian government. The $550 million spacecraft reportedly "aims to promote connectivity inclusivity in the country by providing free Internet connectivity to 150,000 public facilities, including schools, district government offices and health facilities."
