Floods and landslides in Sumatra, Indonesia kill 27 people, and many others are missing

According to Malaysia Guanghua.com, Indonesia has been suffering from natural disasters in recent days. North Sumatra has been raining torrential rains since the 10th. Floods and landslides have occurred in some areas, causing at least 27 deaths and many missing.


     In Mandaling Natal County, North Sumatra, floods and landslides occurred in 24 villages. At least 18 people were killed and many others were missing.


     Twelve of the dead were students from a boarding school in the village of Muara Saradi, and another 17 students and several teachers were rescued.


     According to reports, these students were in class on the 13th when a landslide struck, and the buildings were not destroyed and buried.


     The authorities sent rescue teams to the disaster area, but some road sections were interrupted by landslides, and rescue work was blocked. In West Sumatra Province, there are 3 counties and districts. As a result of the disaster, 9 people were killed and 1 person was missing.
