Russia and Indonesia have agreed to enhance naval cooperation.

Jakarta, Indonesia (RIA Novosti) - The Indonesian Navy's Public Relations Office released a statement saying that the Chief of the Indonesian Navy, Muhammad Ali, met with Russian Ambassador to Indonesia, Sergei Torchestovsky, at the Navy Headquarters in Jakarta. The two sides agreed to enhance cooperation between their navies.

The statement reads: "The talks were held in a friendly atmosphere. Both sides emphasized that the naval relations between the two countries are at a high level. Admiral Ali thanked Russia for the cooperation and pointed out that the Indonesian Navy hopes to strengthen maritime defense diplomacy as a contribution to regional stability and international cooperation."

The message indicates that both sides "reaffirmed their willingness to expand bilateral cooperation in the naval and defense fields."
