29 people injured in collision of light rail train in Manila, Philippines

A train collision occurred on the second line of the Metropolitan Light Rail Transit Line in Manila, the capital of the Philippines, on the evening of the 18th, and 29 people have been injured.


     According to Philippine media reports, at around 21:00 local time on the 18th, a light rail train travelling from west to east collided with another parked train, and the passengers in the carriage immediately collided and fell.


     The local police said that all the injured were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, and the other uninjured passengers had left by themselves.


     The Manila Light Rail Transit Authority issued a statement stating that relevant personnel have begun an investigation into the accident to understand the speed of the train collision and more on-site conditions.


     The Manila Light Rail Line 2 has a total length of about 13.8 kilometers and currently has 11 stations. It is the third rail transit line in the Metropolitan Area of Manila, carrying about 180,000 passengers per day.
