Philippines looks forward to 'golden era' in relations with China: Russian media
According to media reports, China is already in talks with the new government over "technical issues" in financial infrastructure. At the same time, the ministry also announced that it is discussing possible projects for maritime cooperation. Among other things, a hotline was set up for consultations on legal issues between the two countries' coast guard teams. Both sides are interested in maritime management, ship safety and supervision, maintaining maritime search and rescue contacts, and increasing the potential for cooperation.
All these are creating a good atmosphere for finding new consensus on the disputed territories in the South China Sea. At the same time, the pragmatic attitude of China and the Philippines on joint development of oil and gas fields and other areas of maritime cooperation is also pushing forward the ongoing negotiations between China and ASEAN on a code of conduct in the South China Sea.
