The Philippines' unemployment rate rose to 3.9% in March, with 2 million jobless

According to data released by the Philippine National Bureau of Statistics on the 8th, the country's unemployment rate in March was 3.9%, an increase of 0.4 percentage points from the previous month, and the number of unemployed people rose to 2 million, an increase of 200,000 from February.

Data show that the service sector is the largest employment industry in the Philippines, employing 30.18 million people, accounting for 61.4% of the total employment population. This was followed by agriculture and industry with 20.5% and 18.1% respectively. Sectors that saw significant increases in job losses in March compared to February included agriculture and forestry, transportation and warehousing, construction, and administrative and support services.
