The Philippine National Durian Industry Summit was held in Davao City

On October 23-24, the second National Durian Industry Summit was held in Davao City.

The summit was co-hosted by the Philippine Department of Agriculture's District 11 (Davao District) Office, Davao City Durian Industry Association (DIADC) and Davao City Agriculture Office under the theme "Advancing the Philippine Durian Industry towards Sustainable Development".

During the meeting, the forum on enhancing industrial competitiveness and expanding international market, the enterprise matchmaking meeting and the goods and services exhibition were held, and more than 300 relevant practitioners from the Philippines participated in the meeting.

In April 2023, Philippine durian was approved to export to China, and China became the largest market for Philippine durian exports, according to the data released by the Philippine Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the number of Philippine durian exports to China accounted for 89% of the total exports of Philippine durian in 2023. Davao region is the main durian producing area of the Philippines, in 2023 planting area of 166,000 hectares, planting durian trees more than 1.3 million, the output of 63,331 tons, accounting for 81% of the total output of durian.
