The 2025 Chinese Language Summer Camp for Filipino Chinese Students was launched in Xiamen
Xiamen, May 13 (Xinhua) -- (Reporter Yan Xu) The 2025 Chinese Language Summer Camp for Filipino-Chinese Students opened in Xiamen on the 13th, with a total of over 300 Filipino-Chinese teachers and students attending the opening ceremony.
At the opening ceremony, the organizers introduced the basic situation of Fujian to the teachers of Chinese schools in the Philippines and Chinese youth friends, and expressed that Fujian and the Philippines are geographically close, have close blood ties and share cultural connections. It is hoped that the campers will understand the excellent traditional Chinese culture and appreciate the unique charm of Fujian culture through Chinese language learning, cultural experience and the local customs and traditions of Fujian, and serve as envoys of cultural exchanges and mutual learning between China and the Philippines.
On the spot, the attending guests presented the camp flag to the representatives of the campers and watched the performance of traditional Chinese cultural programs together with the Filipino-Chinese teachers and students.
The Chinese Language Summer Camp for Filipino Chinese Students was initiated by Mr. Chen Yongzai, a renowned overseas Chinese leader in the Philippines. Since 2001, it has been held for 21 sessions. The summer camp has opened a window for Filipino Chinese teenagers to learn Chinese and Chinese culture, and provided a platform for them to trace their roots and enhance friendship. A total of 16,000 teachers and students have benefited.
This event is hosted by the Overseas Friendship Association of Fujian Province and the Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese of Fujian Province, and organized by the Philippine Chinese Education Center, Jimei University, Huaqiao University, Quanzhou Normal University and Quanzhou South Shaolin Experimental School.
