2019 Singapore·China Jiangsu Cultural Tourism Year kicked off
The opening ceremony of "Su Yunhuazhang-Wonderful Jiangsu-2019 Singapore·China Jiangsu Cultural Tourism Year" was held at the Chinese Cultural Center in Singapore on the evening of the 26th. The year-long activities will inject new impetus into the promotion of cultural exchanges between China and Singapore.
This event was co-organized by the Singapore Chinese Cultural Center, the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, and the Singapore Jiangsu Association. At the opening ceremony, literary and artistic groups from Jiangsu Province brought the audience a wonderful performance integrating singing and dancing, acrobatics, and instrumental music performances, drawing out the beautiful scenery of the water rhyme south of the Yangtze River, and won bursts of applause from the audience.
Xiao Jianghua, Director of Singapore Chinese Cultural Center and Director of China Tourism Office in Singapore, presided over the opening ceremony. He said that the center will uphold the concept of "promote tourism with cultural concepts and promote culture with tourism", and actively cooperate with the Department of Culture and Tourism of Jiangsu Province to build more platforms for cultural exchanges between Jiangsu Province and Singapore.
Chinese Ambassador to Singapore Hong Xiaoyong said at the opening ceremony that the friendship between China and Singapore has a long history and the cooperation between the two countries has been deepened. The Jiangsu Cultural Tourism Year will promote cooperation and exchanges between the Chinese Cultural Center and more local institutions, and continue to add icing on the cake to the friendly relations between China and Singapore, especially between Singapore and Jiangsu.
Singaporean Member of Parliament Chen Peiling said at the opening ceremony that China is Singapore’s largest source of tourists, while Singapore is China’s tenth largest source of tourists. The people of New Zealand and China both have a keen interest in each other and maintain close contacts. It is hoped that through the activities of Jiangsu Cultural Tourism Year, the personnel exchanges and economic and trade cooperation between the two sides will be further promoted.
