Beijing University Student Film Festival set up a branch venue in Singapore for the first time

The 26th Beijing University Student Film Festival Singapore Branch Ceremony was held on the 20th at the Chinese Cultural Center in Singapore. This is the first time that Beijing University Film Festival has set up a branch venue in Singapore.


    The event was hosted by Beijing Normal University and undertaken by the ATV Media Arts School of Sharton International College, Singapore. Xiao Jianghua, director of the Singapore Chinese Cultural Center, attended the event.


    Yang Chenghu, chairman of the jury of this year's film festival, said in his speech that the establishment of a branch venue in Singapore for the Beijing University Student Film Festival is a cultural event for university students from China and Singapore to use the medium of film to communicate and interact.


    He said that the Beijing University Student Film Festival was founded in 1993, always adhering to the tenet of "Youth Passion, Academic Taste, and Cultural Awareness", and insisting on the characteristics of "organized by college students, viewed by college students, filmed by college students, and criticized by college students". This year's film festival also specially put forward the slogan "New Era, New Youth, New Film", which established its unique style different from other film festivals. The 26th Beijing University Student Film Festival was held from April 7th to 28th. The main competition unit solicited more than 300 domestic films.


    Yang Xiaoshan, the director of Sharton International College in Singapore, said that film is an art without borders, and the future of Chinese-language films requires more and more young people to participate in the creation.


    At the "Summit Forum on Film and Television Art for Youth Image Creation and Cross-Media Narrative", Yang Chenghu and Professor Yao Guoqiang from Beijing Film Academy, Cheng Jie, Dean of ATV Media Art School at Shatton International College, Singapore, and Singapore Tiandi Fenggu Culture Media Co., Ltd. Li Yuxuan and Malaysian director Li Hongjie participated in the seminar and answered questions from the audience.


    During the screening of the award-winning works, the audience appreciated the 3 award-winning works of the 25th Beijing University Student Film Festival, which were starring the best animated short film "Haze", the best feature film "Oasis" and the best actress in a feature film Guo Yue "Xiaoying". Film stunt shooting teaching activities were also held at the ceremony.
