The Minister of Defence of Singapore met with the Minister of Defence of Indonesia.
ASEAN Headline News: According to the Singapore Ministry of Defence, Singapore's Defence Minister Tan Chin Siong visited Indonesia on August 5th and held bilateral talks with Indonesian Defence Minister Sjahri Hasmudin. Before the talks, Tan Chin Siong inspected the Indonesian Ministry of Defence's guard of honour and had an exchange with approximately 250 trainees at the National Resilience Institute (Lemhannas) in Indonesia.
During the talks, the two defence ministers reaffirmed the long-standing and stable defence relationship between Singapore and Indonesia. They focused on discussing the plan to jointly develop training facilities at air defence weapon ranges in Kalimantan, Batuliring, and Sijabat, believing that this would provide more joint training opportunities for the two militaries. The two ministers also exchanged views on the current geopolitical situation and emphasized the importance of maintaining close cooperation and open dialogue.
