Chinese tourists are a crucial driving force for the development of Singapore's tourism industry.

Su Bramanjantha Batte, the founder of the Singapore market research firm Hark Marketing and a tourism analyst, recently gave an exclusive interview to Xinhua News Agency. She said that Chinese tourists are a crucial driving force for the development of Singapore's tourism industry. Their interests are no longer limited to iconic attractions but have gradually expanded to niche itineraries and unique experiences.

Batte believes that Chinese tourists not only have a large number but also have strong purchasing power, and are important contributors to hotel, attraction, retail and airport consumption in Singapore. Since the mutual visa exemption between China and Singapore took effect in February 2024, China has become Singapore's largest source of tourists. In the first eight months of 2025, Singapore received approximately 2.3 million Chinese tourists.
