According to The Straits Times, Singapore Telecom explained that the incident on March 16th was caused by a mechanical failure in the network infrastructure; on March 17th, about 2,000 users were affected due to a software error during system upgrades. On March 18th, there was a brief traffic peak during network optimization.
The CEO of Singapore Telecom apologized for this and admitted that "this should not have happened", stating that they will learn from the experience to enhance network resilience.
The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) of Singapore has launched an investigation and said that if any mistakes are found, strict actions will be taken.
