Thai University intends to lift the "ban on women's clothing
Chulalongkorn University, the country's highest institution in Thailand, announced that the board of directors of the school has passed a resolution on the 16th to conditionally open "third sex" students to school in female uniforms.
Chulalongkorn University stated that the board of directors will convene the school’s school of education teachers and students to discuss together, listen to relevant opinions, and send the resolution to the government for review within 30 days.
Chaiyaporn Puprasert, vice chairman of Chulalongkorn’s Student and Alumni Affairs Department, said that it is a long-standing tradition for students to wear “gender-suitable” clothing to attend graduation ceremonies. Orientation decides to wear boys' or girls' uniforms in class.
The university stated that it specially invited teachers and students of the College of Education to participate in the discussion because the college believes that as teachers, you must set an example. Personal words and deeds will have long-term effects on students. Therefore, it ordered that transgender teachers of the college be prohibited from wearing women's clothing to the school.
According to the school’s ruling, the "women's clothing ban" of the College of Education has been revoked, and all transgender teachers and students of the college can wear appropriate clothes to class according to their personal gender identity.
Netiwit Chotiphatphaisal, a student of the school, said that this can be said to be a "small victory" for the school by students, especially for teachers and students in the School of Education, who will no longer be subject to the ban.
As of now, there are only Chulalongkorn University and Chiang Mai University in Thailand. Students are allowed to wear appropriate clothing to attend the ceremony on the day of graduation according to their gender identity.
