On the evening of the 5th, Vajiralongkorn set off from the Grand Palace in a sedan chair and went to the nearby Reclining Buddha Temple and other royal temples to participate in related ceremonies. The grand line of kings drew many people as they passed through the streets of Bangkok. Dressed in yellow clothes representing the royal family, they sat on both sides of the road to express their blessings to the newly crowned king.
After the death of Thailand's first king Bhumibol in 2016, his only son, Vajiralongkorn, succeeded in the same year. According to Thai tradition, the successor king should hold a coronation ceremony to complete all succession procedures. The coronation ceremony of Vajiralongkorn was held in Bangkok from May 4th to 6th.
