Joint border inspections between Yunnan Province and Ha Giang Province, Vietnam

The reporter learned from the Foreign Affairs Office of the Yunnan Provincial Government on the 13th that on the 10th anniversary of the determination of the land border between China and Vietnam, the Foreign Affairs Office of Yunnan Province and the Foreign Affairs Department of Ha Giang Province of Vietnam were in Malipo County, Wenshan Prefecture from April 11th to 12th, 2019. Carry out joint border inspections, strengthen border management cooperation between Yunnan and Hejiang Province, enhance exchanges and mutual trust, and serve the economic development of border areas.


On the morning of the 11th, China and Vietnam held a joint inspection launching ceremony at the 291/2 boundary marker. After that, Wang Wei, the head of the Chinese delegation and deputy director of the Yunnan Foreign Affairs Office, and the head of the Vietnamese delegation and the relevant person in charge of Ha Giang Province jointly walked along the border. Shanyueling inspected 16 boundary markers and inspected the boundary between 290/3 and 303 boundary markers.


   It is reported that the boundary of this section is located in a karst karst area with dense forests and deep karst caves. The boundary line runs along the ridge or high point of the mountainside. After on-site inspections, the two sides have no disagreement on the direction of the boundary line and are satisfied with the status quo of boundary monument protection. The heads of the two sides also cleaned and traced some of the boundary markers.


   On the 12th, China and Vietnam held border talks. Focusing on the three major projects of "Bright Border", "Warm Border" and "Fujiang", China exchanged views with Vietnam and reached consensus on border management, port passage construction, border project approval, border tree planting, and friendly village pairing. The two sides agreed that joint border inspections to promote the standardization of border management, improve the efficiency of joint handling of border-related affairs, and strengthen cooperation and mutual trust at the grassroots level are important measures for China and Vietnam to build peace, stability, and develop borders.
