The total retail sales of consumer goods in Vietnam increased by 11.9%

According to statistics from the General Administration of Statistics of Vietnam, the total retail sales of consumer goods across Vietnam in April reached 400 trillion VND (approximately US$17 billion), an increase of 2.3% from the previous month. In the first four months, the total retail sales of consumer goods across the country hit a new high since 2015, reaching 1583.7 trillion VND (approximately US$68 billion), a year-on-year increase of 11.9%.


   Among them, grain and food sales increased by 14%; furniture, household products, and facilities increased by 12.9%; textiles and clothing increased by 12.4%; transportation increased by 11.1%; cultural and educational supplies increased by 10.7%. In addition, the income of the hotel and catering service industry increased by 9.2%; the income of the tourism industry increased by 13.1%.


   In the next stage, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam will continue to work closely with relevant departments to closely track changes in market demand, strengthen price supervision, increase efforts to combat smuggling, commercial fraud, and counterfeit sales, and promote the healthy development of the domestic consumer market.
