China becomes Brunei's largest source of foreign tourists
Statistics released by the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism of Brunei on the 9th showed that China became Brunei's largest source of foreign tourists in 2018.
Statistics show that in 2018, there were 65,563 Chinese tourists arriving in Brunei via Brunei International Airport. The proportion of international tourists in Brunei rose from 20.9% in 2017 to 23.6%.
In 2016, Brunei granted visa-on-arrival treatment to Chinese citizens, and the number of Chinese tourists to Brunei has subsequently increased rapidly. In addition, airlines such as Royal Brunei Airlines have expanded their route coverage to Chinese cities, which has also driven the growth of the number of Chinese tourists.
Brunei's top five sources of international tourists also include Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines and Singapore. The five major sources of international tourists have brought nearly 70% of international tourists to Brunei.
