Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi has met with Brunei's Minister of Foreign Affairs in Phnom Penh on the sidelines of a series of foreign ministers' meetings on East Asia Cooperation. Wang Yi said that China and the United States are facing each other across the sea and their friendship stretches back thousands of years. Despite different national conditions and systems, the two countries have always respected, understood and cared for each other, and bilateral relations have maintained a steady momentum of development. The two sides should continue to adhere to friendly policies toward each other, carry forward the tradition of mutual support and promote the sound and steady development of bilateral relations. China supports Brunei in maintaining social stability, economic development and improvement of people's livelihood, and in playing a unique and important role in international and regional affairs. We will encourage Chinese enterprises to invest in Brunei to help Brunei enhance its capacity for independent development and achieve diversified development.
