ASEAN Headline News: According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, on December 11, 2025, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brunei, Ariefwan, in Beijing.
Ariefwan stated that the heads of state of the two countries successfully met in Beijing earlier this year, providing guidance and impetus for the development of bilateral relations. The Bruneian side is willing to take the opportunity of the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries next year to closely engage in high-level exchanges with China, strengthen political trust, promote cultural and people-to-people exchanges, deepen cooperation in manufacturing, agriculture, and other fields, and drive the development of the bilateral relationship to greater heights. China and ASEAN are natural partners. The Bruneian side is willing to closely cooperate with China within the framework of ASEAN-China relations and promote the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two sides, benefiting the people of all countries in the region. The Bruneian side fully supports China in successfully hosting the APEC Leaders' Informal Meeting next year and looks forward to China exerting greater influence and leadership in international and regional affairs.
