On the evening of the 19th, as the Mid-Autumn Festival approached, President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan cordially visited King Sihamoni and Queen Mother Monineath of Cambodia who were recuperating in Beijing at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse.

    Xi Jinping first wished King Sihamoni and Queen Mother Monineath a happy holiday, health and longevity. Xi Jinping pointed out that China-Cambodia relations are close and special, with deep historical feelings accumulated. Over the past 60 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the Sino-Cambodian friendship jointly established and carefully nurtured by the older generation of Chinese leaders and Emperor Sihanouk is increasingly full of vitality. King Norodom Sihamoni and Queen Dowager Monineath expressed concern for China-Cambodia friendship and made important contributions to the development of China-Cambodia relations. China cherishes its special friendship with the Cambodian royal family. Since 2016, I have met with King Sihamoni and Queen Dowager Monineath year after year, like family gatherings. King Sihamoni and I reached an important consensus on inheriting and carrying forward the traditional friendship between China and Cambodia, and pushed bilateral relations into the best period in history. The senior officials and people of the two countries should come and go as often as relatives.

    Xi Jinping congratulated Cambodia on the smooth success of the general election and the formation of a new Congress and government. He wished that under the blessing of King Sihamoni and under the leadership of the Royal Government headed by Prime Minister Hun Sen, Cambodia will achieve new and greater achievements in the cause of national construction. . I wish Cambodia long-term stability and happiness to the people. Xi Jinping emphasized that China attaches great importance to its relations with Cambodia, and will work with Cambodia to inherit the traditional friendship between the two countries, carry on the past, and push the China-Cambodia comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to a new level.

    Sihamoni and Monineath thanked Xi Jinping and Peng Liyuan for their friendship. They said that every time we meet President Xi Jinping and Professor Peng Liyuan, we are as cordial as we meet family members. The Cambodian people thank China for its long-term firm support and valuable help, and thank President Xi Jinping for caring, attaching importance to and promoting the development of Cambodia-China relations. President Xi Jinping's historic visit to Cambodia in 2016 raised Cambodia-China relations to a new historical height. Cambodia-China friendship is as solid as a rock, and Cambodia-China cooperation is flourishing. The Cambodian royal family will inherit the cause of friendship with China initiated by Emperor Sihanouk, and continue to actively promote the continuous development of comprehensive strategic cooperation between Cambodia and China.
