Cambodia's participation in CIIE: Bringing "the world's best rice" to China
Pan Sousa, Minister of Commerce of Cambodia, is about to lead a delegation to visit China to attend the first China International Import Expo to be opened on November 5 in Shanghai.
China Youth Daily·China Youth Online reporter learned from the Cambodian Ministry of Commerce that two Cambodian rice companies will participate in this year's CIIE, and they will exhibit their star products that have won the honor of "Best Rice in the World" in Shanghai. Both companies are leaders in the Cambodian rice industry. The Cambodian side hopes to use rice as a link to promote rice trade through this CIIE, and at the same time further strengthen international cooperation, introduce modern planting and processing technologies, improve the transportation and storage of rice, and learn from advanced management concepts to help realize Cambodian rice Industrial upgrading and transformation.
Sopo, a member of the Board of Directors of the Cambodian Rice Association, said that the CIIE is an excellent platform. Cambodian rice companies attach great importance to this opportunity to participate in the exhibition. High-quality rice products. "Cambodia rice won the championship four times at the World Rice Conference in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2018, and was awarded the title of'Best Rice in the World'. I hope that one day, Cambodian rice will be like the rice of neighboring countries. , Speak for your country in the international market." Sopo said.
In recent years, the export volume of Cambodian rice has been increasing year by year, and the expansion of the Chinese market is one of the most important reasons. Since the signing of the agreement in August 2014 and China giving Cambodia a quota of 100,000 tons of rice, China has become Cambodia's largest rice importer. In 2015, it exported about 95,000 tons of rice to China, accounting for more than 20% of Cambodian rice exports. When President Xi visited Cambodia in October 2016, he signed a 200,000-ton rice quota agreement with the Cambodian government. At the beginning of 2018, China raised the Cambodian rice quota to 300,000 tons.
Sopo said that China has made the greatest contribution to solving the problem of Cambodian rice. This also reflects the friendship between China and Cambodia that we share weal and woe. The Chinese market will definitely be the main target of Cambodian rice exports in the future. I look forward to using this CIIE to reach cooperation with more Chinese companies and continuously export Cambodian rice with high quality and good prices to China.
