Cambodia has launched a project to build nearly 3,000 kilometers of submarine optical cables
On February 20, Cambodian media simultaneously reported on the launch ceremony of construction of a nearly 3,000-kilometer submarine cable connecting Hong Kong of China and Cambodia's coastal province of Preah Sihanouk. The project aims to improve Cambodia's ability to provide high-speed Internet services.
Cambodia currently has more than 17 million mobile phone subscribers and more than 310,000 fixed Internet users, according to local media. There are 38 Internet service providers and five operators of land-based and undersea cable infrastructure across the country.
