Thailand and Cambodia express their gratitude to Malaysia for its role in resolving the tensions
ASEAN Headline News: The governments of Thailand and Cambodia recently expressed sincere gratitude to Malaysia for its crucial mediation role in resolving the border tensions.
According to a report by the Malaysian News Agency on August 7th, after the special meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand Border Coordination Committee (GBC) on August 7th, where several agreements were reached, Thailand's Acting Defense Minister Nattapong highly praised Malaysia's diplomatic wisdom and coordination capabilities as the chair of ASEAN, enabling both sides to reach consensus on issues of common concern within the ASEAN framework.
Cambodia's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Dith Samhiar emphasized in his speech that the Cambodian side highly appreciated Malaysia's mediation efforts and would continue to maintain close cooperation with Malaysia and Thailand to effectively implement the ceasefire agreement's various provisions. He reaffirmed that the Cambodian government has always adhered to resolving territorial disputes through peaceful means, in accordance with international law and the principles of the ASEAN Charter.
