China has committed to continuing to provide assistance for landmine clearance in Cambodia
ASEAN Headline News - December 8, 2025, During the "High-Level Dialogue on Promoting Regional Mine Clearance Cooperation and Resource Mobilization" held in Jakarta, Indonesia, Cambodian State Minister and the First Vice Chairman of the Cambodian Mine Clearance Operations and Victim Assistance Agency (CMAA), Li Tu, held a bilateral meeting with Liang Guotao, the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Arms Control Department of China.
Liang Guotao expressed appreciation for Cambodia's role as the host country and chair of the 5th Review Conference of the Ottawa Convention (Siem Reap - Angkor Landmine-Free World Summit) in 2024. He reaffirmed that China will continue to provide assistance to Cambodia in the field of mine clearance operations in the coming years until Cambodia ultimately achieves its goals.
During the meeting, Liang Guotao expressed concern over the civilian casualties caused by the current border conflict between Cambodia and Thailand and called on all parties to remain calm and resolve the disputes through peaceful means.
