Luang Prabang, Laos - The China-assisted Luang Prabang Hospital upgrading project was officially launched and handed over to the Lao side on Monday. Officials from the Lao Ministry of Health, Laos-China Cooperation Committee, the Chinese Embassy in Laos and the project construction unit attended the handover ceremony.

Laos Luang Prabang Hospital was built with the assistance of China. This upgrading project includes the construction of new surgical and cardiovascular buildings, apartments for Chinese experts, sewage treatment stations, fire pools and pump rooms, maintenance and improvement of previously constructed buildings and provision of related equipment. After the handover of the project, the Chinese side will carry out technical assistance for three years, continue to improve the local medical and health standards and medical treatment capacity, and build Luang Prabang Hospital into a central hospital in northern Laos to effectively improve local people's livelihood.
