Laos has achieved the first customs clearance of aquatic product trade for farmed basa fish

The entry of basa fish farmed in Laos into the Chinese market marks the first time that aquatic product trade has been cleared through customs, indicating a breakthrough in Laos' fishery trade under the Belt and Road Initiative.

According to the General Administration of Customs of China, on March 31, a batch of 38 tons of basa fish farmed, produced and processed by Chinese enterprises in Laos arrived smoothly at Shekou Port in Shenzhen. After being inspected and quarantined and supervised by Shekou Customs under Shenzhen Customs, it was cleared and released. This is the first time that China has imported aquatic products from Laos since the governments of China and Laos officially signed the Protocol on Inspection and Hygiene Requirements for the Export of Farmed Aquatic Products to China in December 2024.

This batch of Laotian basa fish products has completed the entire industrial chain production including breeding, farming and processing in the Laotian National Basa Fish Modern Fishery Industrial Park invested by a Chinese enterprise, and is now being transported back to the Chinese market.
