The volume of passengers transported by the China-Laos Railway has exceeded 60 million.
Kunming, October 9th (Reporter Miao Chao) - According to the Kunming Railway Bureau Group Co., Ltd. of China Railway, since the opening of the China-Laos Railway on December 3, 2021, as of October 8 this year, a total of 84,000 passenger trains have been operated, with over 60 million passengers transported. More than 595,000 passengers from 115 countries and regions around the world have taken international passenger trains for cross-border travel.
In the past four years since its opening, the passenger volume on the China-Laos Railway has grown strongly. The monthly passenger volume on the entire line has increased from 600,000 in the initial stage to the current 1.6 million. The daily number of passenger trains operated on the Chinese section has increased from 8 in the initial stage to a maximum of 86, with a cumulative passenger volume of 49.49 million. The daily number of passenger trains operated on the Lao section has increased from 4 in the initial stage to a maximum of 18, with a cumulative passenger volume of over 10.58 million.
This year, the passenger travel on the China-Laos Railway has maintained a strong demand. As of October 8, a total of 15.48 million passengers have been transported, with a year-on-year growth of 2.38%.
