The Foreign Minister of Laos attend the special meeting of ASEAN foreign ministers on the situation

The Foreign Minister of Laos, Thongsavan Phomvihane, led a delegation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to attend a special online meeting of ASEAN Foreign Ministers regarding the situation in the Middle East. The meeting was chaired by the Foreign Minister of the 2026 ASEAN Chair Country, the Philippines.
According to the Lao News Agency, during the meeting, the ASEAN Secretary-General, Kao Kim-hong, informed the participants of the potential impact of the situation in the Middle East on the ASEAN region. Foreign ministers exchanged views on short-term and long-term challenges, with a focus on humanitarian concerns, economic stability, and energy and food security.
The foreign ministers expressed deep concern over the current situation and called on all relevant parties to exercise maximum restraint and stop violent acts. The participants reaffirmed the importance of resolving conflicts through peaceful means in accordance with international law and the UN Charter.
