Border trade activities at the Friendship International Port in Vietnam's Lang Son province continue
After a long period of being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, imports, exports and trade activities at the Friendship International Port in Shandong Province have gradually returned to normal. The functional forces at the port have always been prepared for various epidemic prevention and safety conditions to ensure the safe, steady and smooth progress of border trade activities.
As China has adjusted its epidemic prevention and control policy to gradually resume entry and exit, import and export activities and ensure border trade activities return to pre-epidemic conditions starting January 8, 2023, entry and exit activities through Friendship International ports have also gradually resumed. In the first two months of 2023 alone, the Friendship International Port handled entry and exit formalities for more than 16,000 people.
Major Chen Wenxiong, deputy head of the border checkpoint at the Friendship International Port in the province of Lang Son, says that in the face of a likely increase in the number of passengers entering and leaving the country in the coming days, the unit has taken the initiative to formulate plans for personnel, equipment and infrastructure to ensure the best conditions and prepare for epidemic prevention in order to create the most convenient conditions for those entering and leaving the country.
For import and export activities, statistics from the management committee of the Tongdeng Port Economic Zone in Lang Son province show that since February 2023, 500 to 600 or even 800 trucks pass through the Friendship International port on an average day. The import and export goods through Friendship International port are mainly electronic parts, machinery, household tools, agricultural products and other products.
It is expected that for some time to come, an increasing number of goods, people and vehicles will pass through the Friendship International Port. Therefore, border control, customs, quarantine and other port functions have actively formulated plans, coordinated and cooperated with the Chinese side, exchanged views and jointly agreed on solutions.
In particular, in order to ensure the stability of border trade activities at friendship international ports, port functional forces continue to strengthen the publicity and guidance to enterprises, organizations and individuals engaged in import and export services, so as to build consensus on the implementation of digital port platforms. At the same time, we will further strengthen national defense and security, strengthen border patrol and control, and severely deal with violations of entry and exit regulations as well as trade fraud and contraband cases.
