Malaysian officials hope to deepen economic and trade cooperation between the two countries
On the eve of the opening of the China-Asean Expo, the 2023 China-Malaysia Business Cooperation Matchmaking Conference was held in the "online + offline" mode in China and Malaysia on June 6.
When attending the opening ceremony of the matchmaking conference in Kuala Lumpur, Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry of Malaysia Liu Zhendong said that on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China, it is hoped that Malaysia and China will further strengthen economic and trade cooperation and further tap the business opportunities of cooperation through similar docking activities. Malaysia is willing to strengthen economic and trade cooperation with China and learn from China's successful experience to promote Malaysia's industrial transformation and upgrading and lay a good foundation for the long-term development of Malaysia-China relations.
Ouyang Yujing, Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia, also expressed the belief that China and Malaysia will continue to deepen the docking of development strategies under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, cultivate new driving forces for cooperation, create new highlights for cooperation, make more contributions to China-Asean cooperation, and inject new impetus into the development of China-Malaysia economic and trade cooperation and bilateral relations.
Co-sponsored by the head Office of China Construction Bank, the Malaysian External Trade Development Council and the Secretariat of China-Asean Expo, the matchmaking event will last for three days, and more than 300 Chinese and Malaysian companies are expected to conduct more than 400 online matchmaking sessions via video. On the morning of June 6 alone, 16 Chinese and Malaysian companies signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation worth 1.363 billion US dollars.
Liang Yiguang, deputy Secretary-General of the Secretariat of China-Asean Expo, said that the China-Malaysia Business Cooperation Matchmaking event has arranged one-to-one online negotiations for more than 1,000 Chinese and Malaysian enterprises so far, which has facilitated extensive cooperation between the two countries in various fields and become an important measure to promote Chinese and Malaysian enterprises to seek business opportunities in the fields of trade, investment and digital economy. Anan, senior director of the Malaysian Foreign Trade Development Council, believes that the one-to-one matchmaking between Malaysian and Chinese enterprises is very effective, and in the future, it is believed that more Malaysian enterprises can better establish cooperative relations with Chinese enterprises through the digital cooperation platform built by the Construction Bank.
It is reported that the China-Malaysia Business Cooperation Matchmaking Conference has been held for the fifth consecutive year on the eve of the opening of the China-Asean Expo, which will continue to promote exchanges between China and Malaysia from all walks of life and deepen bilateral economic and trade cooperation in various fields. Hu Bofei, deputy general manager of the international business department of China Construction Bank, said that the bank will continue to give full play to the advantages of financial technology and comprehensive service capabilities, and join hands with Chinese and Malaysian enterprises to promote Sino-Malaysian economic and trade cooperation and regional integration.
