The LMC International Film Week was held for the first time in an ASEAN country

  

The 6th Lancang-Mekong International Film Week opened in Phnom Penh, capital of Cambodia, on the evening of 18 local time. Minister of Culture and Art of Cambodia Pensager Na, Director General of Film Bureau of Yunnan Province of China Zhai Yulong, Minister Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia Chen Cong and other officials attended and addressed the opening ceremony.

The previous five LMC International Film Weeks were all held in Yunnan, China. The event was held in an ASEAN country for the first time this year.

Pensagna pointed out that film is a language art that transcends borders and can serve as a bridge to promote mutual understanding and share creative stories. This year's Film Week is a grand gathering of film industry workers, which is an important contribution to deepening friendship, witnessing the establishment of long-term partnership and mutual respect among countries in the Lancang-Mekong sub-region, and promoting cultural dialogue and close cooperation among countries in the Lancang-Mekong sub-region.

Zhai Yulong said that the 6th LMC International Film Week is an effective exploration and vivid practice of cultural exchanges between China and Cambodia. It is hoped that through this event, the film works of Lancang-Mekong countries will further realize interoperability, film talents will further strengthen communication, and the film industry will further strengthen connectivity, so as to promote the prosperity and development of the film industry of Lancang-Mekong countries and bring more excellent film works of Lancang-Mekong countries to the world stage.

In his speech, Chen Cong affirmed the role of film art as a bridge connecting different cultures. He pointed out that the LMC International Film Week effectively promoted the in-depth exchanges, cooperation and development of the film industry in the Lancang-Mekong countries, and effectively promoted mutual understanding and friendship among the people of the countries in the region, which was welcomed by the industry and people of all countries. It is believed that the outstanding films to be shown in this Film Week will further showcase the charm of the six countries along the Lancang-Mekong River and enhance people-to-people exchanges among countries in the region.

The opening ceremony of the day showed the 6th LMC International Film Week promotional video, film highlights, and performed traditional Cambodian dance and traditional LMC fashion show. The film "Home in One Bit", shot at Jingmai Mountain, Huimin Town, Lancang Lahu Autonomous County, Pu 'er City, Yunnan Province, China, was also shown to the audience at the opening ceremony.

According to the organizer, "If I am the person who loves you most in the world", "Retrograde life", "Lion Boy 1", "Wandering Earth 2", "Happy Birthday", "When Mother grows old" and other 20 Lancang-Mekong countries films will be screened in Phnom Penh from 17 to 21 this month.

In addition, a number of related activities will be held during the event, such as film academic exchange, Lancang-Mekong film exchange and cooperation seminar, film project promotion and cooperation signing, Lancang-Mekong Night, etc.
