The Asian Development Bank is willing to continue to strengthen cooperation with the Cambodian

On March 20, Cambodian Prime Minister Khon Manay met with Asian Development Bank President Masatsu Kanda at the Peace Palace. The two sides discussed related issues.

During the talks, Kanda stressed that Cambodia is an important partner of the Asian Development Bank and the cooperation between the two sides has been developing steadily. He expressed confidence in Khoun Manay's leadership and firmly believed that under his leadership, ADB's partnership with Cambodia would further deepen and expand.

Kanda also revealed that this visit to Cambodia is his first overseas visit since taking office as president of the Asian Development Bank. He and the delegation also made a special trip to Hakuba Province to examine the project to strengthen the climate resilience and sustainable development of Cambodia's coastal and Marine fisheries. The successful implementation of the project is a good example of the results of cooperation between the Asian Development Bank and Cambodia.

Kanda noted that the 2024-2028 National Partnership Strategy approved by the Asian Development Bank aligns with the objectives of the first phase of the Cambodian government's Pentagon Strategy. The ADB is willing to continue to strengthen cooperation with the Cambodian government and contribute to the realization of Cambodia's Vision 2050.

Hommanay thanked the Asian Development Bank for its long-standing support, which he said had made important contributions to Cambodia's socio-economic development over the past decades. He stressed that the Cambodian government will remain committed to promoting economic growth, job creation and sustainable development, and formulate priority policies to meet the needs of the people in key areas such as health care, education and employment.

Hun Manay also pointed out that the Cambodian government is supporting the development of local communities through measures such as infrastructure construction and grassroots community capacity building to ensure that grassroots people can directly benefit. At the same time, he stressed the need to introduce policies to promote education, technology and vocational training to meet the needs of the current and future labor market, while taking the necessary measures to ensure a good investment climate and enhance competitiveness in Cambodia.

Finally, Hommanay encouraged the Asian Development Bank to continue to strengthen its ties and cooperation with Cambodian government departments at all levels, so as to deepen and consolidate the partnership between the two sides.
