The 16th Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle Summit was held

  

Asean News: On May 27th, during the 46th ASEAN Summit, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand jointly held the 16th Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) Summit, with ASEAN Secretary-General Ko Kim Hong in attendance. This summit focuses on strengthening the coordinated development of the three countries in areas such as trade, investment, infrastructure and cross-border cooperation.

According to Sin Chew Daily, during the meeting, the three parties signed the India-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) Cooperation framework, aiming to enhance cooperation among the three countries in customs, immigration and quarantine, and promote seamless cross-border flows of goods and people by promoting more effective and business-friendly rules, regulations and procedures.

According to the Oriental Daily News, the framework was signed at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre by Airlangga Hartarto, the Minister of Economic Coordination of Indonesia, Rafizi, the Minister of Economy of Malaysia, and Julapan Amornvivat, the Deputy Minister of Finance of Thailand.

According to the official website of ASEAN, ASEAN Secretary-General Ko Kim Hong said in his speech at the summit in the afternoon of the same day that this regional cooperation framework plays a key role in enhancing regional connectivity, promoting trade exchanges and driving sustainable growth. He particularly pointed out that the IMT-GT mechanism is of great strategic significance for achieving the ASEAN Community Vision 2045 and will inject new impetus into the regional integration process. The convening of this summit not only reflects the common will of the three countries to deepen sub-regional cooperation, but also provides strong support for the overall development of ASEAN.
