Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar: Young people, make courageous choices.
Recently, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim issued a call to the nation's youth, encouraging them to make bold and courageous choices to ensure the country's future. He pointed out that true progress cannot be achieved without resilience, patience, and the ability to face rejection and pressure.
Anwar stated that the responsibility of shaping the country's future is increasingly falling on the shoulders of young people. He emphasized that in moments of historical significance, the driving force for the country's progress often does not only come from political leaders, but also from those who yearn for change and are willing to take responsibility.
"Our children must choose the best path to save the country and make Malaysia a great nation on the world stage. This is exactly the choice we must make at this moment," Anwar said.
He pointed out that in every country's development process, there will be such a stage - not only leaders need to step forward, but the younger generation also needs to step up and bring real change to the country. "They must make decisive and firm decisions, whether to choose stagnation and corruption or success and progress."
Anwar made these remarks while attending a youth dialogue event held at the Ramann University of Technology.
When discussing the issue of national reform, Anwar admitted that choosing the path that is most beneficial to the country has never been easy. Reform is a difficult and lengthy project that requires continuous courage, perseverance, and the ability to withstand pressure.
He also criticized the current atmosphere of parliamentary political debate, stating that it lacks the necessary sensitivity and mutual understanding. "You can see the debating style in the parliament. Of course, there are a few exceptions, but overall, there is a lack of concern for others' feelings and a lack of understanding of the complex reality of the country. This is not the correct direction of progress."
Anwar emphasized that the younger generation needs to learn from their predecessors' experiences, but they must also maintain a clear sense of judgment. "There are some things you should learn, but there are some things you must not inherit." He said, "You must not learn racial or religious extreme prejudice, nor accept the propaganda of hatred and division."
When talking about social diversity, Anwar pointed out that Malaysia's society has multiple demands from different ethnic groups and communities. Reform never has a simple answer. "There will be countless issues raised, and you must have enough patience to listen in order to promote real change."
Despite the challenges ahead, Anwar still expressed firm confidence in the youth. He said he believes that young people have the judgment and courage to make the right choices for the country's future.
However, he also admitted that the correct decision may not be popular. "Sometimes, such a choice will be met with disgust, rejection, insults, and even ridicule." Anwar said, and it is precisely in such moments that one's true courage is tested, and this courage is an indispensable force for Malaysia to move to the world stage and achieve long-term success.
