Intensive training of Chinese-speaking tour guides in Cambodia helps revive the tourism industry

An overseas training course for Chinese-speaking tour guides in Cambodia was held in Siem Reap from August 21 to 30. 60 Chinese-speaking tour guides and tour practitioners from Phnom Penh and Siem Reap attended the training. The training course was sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of China, co-organized by the Ministry of Tourism of Cambodia, and organized by Beijing International Chinese Language Training Academy.

Zhong Jie, counselor in charge of economic affairs of the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia, pointed out at the opening ceremony that human resources cooperation is one of the important contents of bilateral practical cooperation. Since the beginning of this year, China has invited more than 1,000 Cambodian officials and technicians to participate in various training programs. As another important outcome of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Cambodia and the "Year of Friendship between China and Cambodia", the overseas Training course for Chinese tour Guides in Cambodia will play a positive role in boosting the recovery of local tourism and promoting practical cooperation in tourism between China and Cambodia.

Cambodia attaches great importance to strengthening the professional capacity building of tourism professionals, and is currently promoting the implementation of measures related to the "CHINA READY" tourism White Paper, including Chinese language training for tourism officials and staff, strengthening Chinese-language tour guide services, and providing product descriptions in Chinese, with a view to attracting more Chinese tourists.

At the closing ceremony held on the 30th, MEAN Vandet, Director of the Training Bureau of the Ministry of Tourism of Cambodia, pointed out that this training course was held under the background of vigorously promoting the training capacity building of tourism professionals, travel agencies and tour guides of Cambodia, hoping that all the students will apply the new knowledge and new skills acquired in the training course to their daily work practice. Contribute to the recovery of Cambodia's tourism industry.

The aforementioned training courses were welcomed by Cambodian tourism practitioners. "Thanks to the Cambodian and Chinese governments for providing us with this learning opportunity. We spent 10 days in Siem Reap with the Chinese teachers. Their wonderful and vivid lectures gave us a deeper understanding of China's history, geography, food culture and the needs of Chinese tourists, and further improved the quality of our tourism services." Gao Xinyang of the Chinese-Language Tour Guide Association in Cambodia said.
