On February 13, 2025, the 31st China-Asean Senior Officials' Consultation was held in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, China. Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong of China and Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia and Senior Official of ASEAN Affairs Amran co-chaired the meeting. Senior officials or representatives of other ASEAN countries and Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN attended the meeting. Timor-leste attended the meeting as an observer of ASEAN.

Sun Weidong stressed that the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China was successfully held last year, and the Chinese-style modernization drive is making great strides. Under the new circumstances, China is ready to work with ASEAN to create more highlights in the Free Trade Area 3.0, digital transformation, production and supply chain, green development and people-to-people exchanges, promote high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, the three global initiatives and ASEAN community building to complement each other and synergy, and build an even closer China-Asean community of shared future.

Asean countries spoke highly of China's achievements in modernization and China's role as an important engine in the global economy, appreciated China's support for ASEAN centrality and ASEAN community building, stressed that ASEAN-China cooperation has set a model for regional cooperation and brought benefits to the people of the region. They are willing to deepen practical cooperation with China in various fields and strengthen "hard connectivity" and "soft connectivity". We should promote regional integration, crack down on transnational crimes such as online gambling and electricity fraud, and jointly safeguard regional peace, stability, prosperity and development.
