Taizhou's foreign trade is "accelerating its pace", with the EU market becoming a powerful

Since the beginning of this year, Taizhou's foreign trade has continued to show a development trend of steady progress and quality improvement. Particularly, it has performed outstandingly in economic and trade exchanges with the EU market, becoming an important supporting sector for the growth of Taizhou's total foreign trade.

In the Pharmaceutical High-tech Zone (Gaogang District), when the reporter entered the logistics workshop of Astrazeneca's supply base in Taizhou, they saw workers operating machines in an orderly manner for packing and transporting goods. Intelligent logistics robots were running at high speed, and delivery vehicles were entering and leaving the loading and unloading area one after another. The scene was bustling and orderly. In recent years, Astrazeneca's Taizhou supply base has continuously introduced core technologies for diabetes drugs and a full product production supply chain, aiming to build the Taizhou supply base into a global production base for Astrazeneca's diabetes products. It also imports drug raw materials from Europe to produce drugs for treating hyperglycemia. From January to April this year, the total import volume of enterprises reached 2.32 billion yuan, an increase of 26% compared with 2024.

Ge Pingping, the customs affairs director of the Astrazeneca supply base, said, "The original raw materials imported by the Astrazeneca supply base were mainly from European countries such as Sweden and Switzerland for domestic production." In the past two years, we have increased the import of active pharmaceutical ingredients from the Irish market for domestic drug production.

While foreign trade is "bringing in", the intensity of "going global" should not be underestimated either.

From January to April this year, Taizhou City exported mechanical and electrical products worth 4.94 billion yuan to the European Union, an increase of 23.2% year-on-year, accounting for 77.2% of the city's total exports to the European Union. Jiangsu Linhai Power Machinery Group Co., Ltd. is one of the earliest professional enterprises in China engaged in the research and development and manufacturing of all-terrain vehicles. This year, the enterprise has increased its investment in product research and development in the EU market. In the first four months, it achieved a year-on-year growth of about 30% in invoiced sales.

Tan Ping, the deputy general manager of Jiangsu Linhai Power Group Co., LTD., said, "At present, the products we export to the European market are mainly all-terrain vehicle series, including our UTV and ATV series. Among them, the V650 and V550 products have been launched with great popularity this year and have been unanimously recognized by customers." This year's orders have increased by more than 200% compared with last year.

In recent years, Taizhou Customs has injected strong impetus into the expansion of the EU market for "Made in Taizhou" products by optimizing service measures and strengthening policy support. From January to April this year, the total volume of foreign trade imports and exports between Taizhou and EU countries reached 9.05 billion yuan, an increase of 22.2% compared with the same period last year. Among them, the export was 6.37 billion yuan, increasing by 16.1%, and the import was 2.68 billion yuan, increasing by 39.9%.

MAO Guoqing, the head of the Statistics and Analysis Department of Taizhou Customs, said that by guiding enterprises to comprehensively apply customs clearance facilitation models such as "advance declaration + scheduled inspection", they will smooth the business consultation channels for enterprises' commodity classification and standardized declaration, and promote the development of Taizhou's imports and exports with the European Union to achieve new results. Next, Taizhou Customs will adopt targeted measures and provide precise services, accelerate the implementation of various facilitation policies and measures, help enterprises accelerate the expansion of various markets, and contribute customs strength to the development of an open economy.
