Enterprises from Guangxi, China and ASEAN promote cooperation in spices and flavorings.

  

Nanning, June 19 (Reporter Huang Lingyan) The China-ASEAN Expo Bureau of Guangxi introduced on June 19 that the 2025 China (Guangxi)-ASEAN Spices and Flavors Enterprises Exchange Series of Activities was held recently. More than 20 enterprises from ASEAN countries such as Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam, and leading Chinese enterprises in the spices and flavors industry, relying on the profound industrial heritage of Guangxi, known as the "Natural Plant Spices Repository", jointly drew up a blueprint for two-way cooperation of Guangxi's spices "going global" and ASEAN spices "entering China".

Guangxi is home to a variety of characteristic spices such as star anise, cinnamon, jasmine and agarwood, and is an important natural spices planting area in China. Among them, Guangxi's star anise production accounts for more than 80% of the country's total, and the jasmine flower production in Hengzhou, Guangxi, accounts for more than 60% of the world's total.

The exchange delegation visited the core areas of Guangxi's spice industry. In Hengzhou, known as the "World Jasmine Capital", Malaysian buyers and local enterprises had a lively discussion on the deep processing of jasmine tea and the construction of distribution channels in Southeast Asia. Cambodian enterprises showed great interest in jointly building raw material bases.

In Yulin, known as the "Southern Fragrance Capital", the exchange delegation focused on inspecting the spice industry cluster, visiting enterprises, and delving into the spice storage base, deep processing workshops and innovative product production lines. The local government of Yulin officially introduced the advantages and development plans of the Yulin spice industry, and both government and enterprises had in-depth exchanges on capacity matching and technological upgrading.

During the event, Guangxi Modern Logistics Group reached a preliminary cooperation intention with three Thai enterprises on star anise seeds and other star anise products, and formed a cross-border supply chain collaboration framework with ASEAN enterprises. Guangxi Zhenhua International Trade Co., Ltd. reached a cooperation intention with Malaysian and Thai enterprises on halal certification standardization services.

The head of Cambodia's Best Life Products Co., Ltd., Meo Sokthiri, said that the exchange activity provided a high-quality platform for Cambodian products to enter the Chinese market. Chen Zhiqiang, a representative of a Malaysian spice trading enterprise, said that he had reached a consensus with Guangxi enterprises on direct procurement of cinnamon raw materials and processing technology exchanges, and looked forward to enhancing the added value of local spices with the experience of Guangxi's industry.

This exchange activity was guided by the China-ASEAN Expo Bureau of Guangxi and jointly organized by the China-ASEAN Economic and Trade Center and the Guangxi Spices and Flavors Industry Association.
